            Bug ID: 261049
Summary: sysrc fails when trying to set variables containing a
                    dot
           Product: Base System
           Version: Unspecified
          Hardware: Any
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Only Me
          Priority: ---
         Component: kern
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

sysrc(8) fails when trying to set variables containing a dot.

In particular, I need to set vfs.usermount=1 in /etc/sysctl.conf.

sysrc refuses to do this, putting out this:
sysrc: vfs.usermount: name contains characters not allowed in shell

Putting into ticks 'vfs.usermount=1' does not help.

Any chance that sysrc can be fixed?
Or is it recommendable that I have my script itself change /etc/sysctl.conf?
