Screenshot of vCD OS Guest Customization Screen
I am using a provider's VMware vCD environment to deploy virtual servers, and
ont I am working with is OPNsense 23.1. When I build a vm with their image the
OS Guest Customization edit button is greyed. I then tried to build a vanilla
FreeBSD virtual machine and it too has the edit button greyed out.
Not having OS guest customizations does not allow me to transition guest
updates to the vm. For example I have a DHCP IP for the public side of the
OPNsense VM. This works just fine without guest customizations, but if I want
the DHCP IP to be pulled from a static pool that is defined within vCD then
thats where guest customizations comes into play. The vm will reboot, and then
apply the guest customizations that are enabled for it.
I have tried installing the VMware Open VM Tools package but this still does
not enable the edit button.
