Bug ID: 289010
Summary: ZFS restarts resilver on completion of another
resilver
Product: Base System
Version: Unspecified
Hardware: Any
OS: Any
Status: New
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: ---
Component: kern
Assignee: [email protected]

I have a ZFS array that is currently RAID-Z2 and has 8x4T and 8x10T. I'm
unhappy with the 10T (getting occasional errors from them --- I'm not liking
the Toshiba) drives). I'm replacing each of the 10T drives with another 10T
drive (Replacing Toshiba withe WD Pro Red). Note that I'm not removing the
production drive until it is removed by the resilver terminating.,
I replaced on drive first. This took a few days, but it was fine.
I reasoned that with RAID Z2 I could tolerate doing two drives at a time. So I
queued up the 2nd and 3rd drive. This was not faster (fine), but the detail
that really got me was that the resilver of the 2nd drive restarted resilvering
when the 3rd finished first. That is, they were both around 99% when the 3rd
drive finished and the 2nd drive went back to almost 0%.
This was observed with 14.1. I have no reason to believe that 14.3 would fix
it.
