Bug ID: 291577
Summary: 15.0-RELEASE install panic on Hyper-V Generation 2
Virtual Machine (2+ vCPUs)
Product: Base System
Version: 15.0-RELEASE
Hardware: amd64
OS: Any
Status: New
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: ---
Component: kern
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
When installing FreeBSD 15.0-RELEASE using
FreeBSD-15.0-RELEASE-amd64-bootonly.iso into a Hyper-V Generation 2 Virtual
Machine, installer panics if the VM has been set to use 2 or more Virtual CPUs
(console output below).
Reducing the VM settings to 1 vCPU allows the install to complete successfully,
but increasing vCPUs after installation/shutdown also results in panic upon
next boot. Installation and use of same install media into a Hyper-V Generation
1 Virtual Machine is not affected.
