Bug ID: 291612
Summary: System hangs at ppt initialization with PCI‑USB
controller on FreeBSD 14.3
Product: Base System
Version: 14.3-RELEASE
Hardware: amd64
OS: Any
Status: New
Severity: Affects Some People
Priority: ---
Component: kern
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
After upgrading from FreeBSD 14.2 to 14.3, the system fails to boot when a
PCI‑USB controller card is installed and configured for passthrough (ppt). Boot
hangs at the moment of ppt initialization.
* On 14.2 the same hardware worked fine.
* On 14.3 the system hangs both in normal and single‑user mode.
* Removing the PCI‑USB card allows the system to boot normally.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install FreeBSD 14.3‑RELEASE.
2. Configure PCI‑USB controller for passthrough (pptdevs in /boot/loader.conf).
3. Boot system.
4. Observe hang during ppt initialization.
Expected Result:
System should boot successfully with PCI‑USB controller reserved for
passthrough.
Actual Result:
System hangs at ppt initialization.
