Thanks, first I need to get my bearings :-) after four years.

Reviewing the first two lines of comment 0, I have a distant recollection that
the file might have been somehow corrupted. At the time, I probably used
FreeBSD-CURRENT.

Compare with the final line below, with a more modern RELEASE and a file that
is probably not corrupted:
