Yes, booting into single-user mode (`boot -s`) is a much cleaner workaround than using a LiveCD, I will keep that in mind for the future. However, the fact that the 15.0-compiled amdgpu.ko was actually executed by the 15.1-RC1 kernel instead of being rejected by the "tied modules" mechanism shows there is indeed a bug or a loophole in how kernel module ABI compatibility is currently checked during major/minor upgrades when loaded via kld_list.(In reply to Warner Losh from comment #1) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
