When upgrading from 14.5 to 15.1p4 I got the following error:
[179/333] Extracting FreeBSD-caroot-15.1: 100%
ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libedit.so.8" not found, required by "sh"
pkg: POST-INSTALL script failed
I see that FreeBSD-runtime is installed considerably later:
[252/333] Upgrading FreeBSD-runtime from 14.5 to 15.1p4...
[252/333] Extracting FreeBSD-runtime-15.1p4: 100%
Perhaps FreeBSD-caroot should depend on FreeBSD-runtime?
FWIW, the update was done of several jails using the following script:
#!/usr/local/bin/bash
export OSVERSION=1501000
export ABI=FreeBSD:15:amd64
pkg -c /jail/$1/root update
pkg -c /jail/$1/root upgrade -y -r FreeBSD-base
chroot /jail/$1/root pkg-static bootstrap -yf
pkg -c /jail/$1/root upgrade -y
