I'm having difficulty finding FreeBSD sysadmins to fill a position,
and I was hoping y'all might have some suggestions.

At the place I work.. I was recruited through Craigslist.

After joining we have had a couple of times seeked for more positions in help desk and Sysadmin.. On both situations we had best luck with Craigslist.

Of course, I've also posted to freebsd-jobs

We got the least response from that list.

- Where do you look for job openings?

Can't think of any other place besides those you mentioned..

- Any other suggestions for finding candidates?

Perhaps consider good candidates with other BSDs and perhaps even Linux.. As important as direct experience in a subject matter is... finding the right candidate with the right attitude is most important.

In particular look at what apps you will be using.
Say you will be doing the Mysql+Apache+PHP... someone strong in those 3 and some other BSD/Linux and the right attitude.. may be a good fit.

Try changing your add to "Unix system administrator" and then mention FreeBSD as a prefered Os... but make the skillset for your core programs a must.

You may try finding a bsd user group in your area. I have the job I'm working at now because I was subscribed to the nyc bsd user group mailing list. Well at least indirectly, as there were other requirements aside from being a list subscriber ;)
