Hi wen,I'm subbed to this list now and paying attention. I didn't go read the archives. Let me know how I can help with FreeBSD and Azure.
Hi, Would you know the safest way to upgrade a freebsd-12.0-p13 instance on azure? What I'm worried about concerns waagent (later:- azure-agent). I want to upgrade to latest 12.1-p7. But the 12.0 instance had waagent already provided, and not by the ports system. On the 12.0-system there are these files: /etc/rc.d/waagent /etc/waagent.conf /usr/local/sbin/waagent /usr/local/sbin/waagent2.0 /usr/sbin/waagent /usr/sbin/waagent2.0 /var/lib/waagent /var/log/waagent.log /var/run/3_waagent.pid /var/run/waagent.pid So, before upgrading the OS via freebsd-update, is it safe to: 1. stop waagent 2. after backing up waagent.conf, deleting the above files/dirs 3. installing azure-agent 4. starting azure-agent using the previously backed-up conf file, this time it being off /usr/local/etc as per ports pkgbase 5. then doing the os update via freebsd-update basically trying to make sure i'm doing it all the right way in the right order. thanks, -- J.
