It'd help if you could sort out this pile of details and list the actual
combinations that you tried; at the moment I can't even begin to guess at
the cause of your problem(s).
More or less in summary:
Invalid slice - you have the geometry mixed up
Bootmanager beep - you have the geometry mixed up differently
Register dump - looks like a BIOS bug, but hard to tell without eax
System halted - should have register dump, see above
If you can offer some more details, I can work on trying to reproduce the
problem.
