It would appear so (I didn't even know kget existed <sigh> :)
But it isn't in any .rc files, so presumably it isn't automagic.

Presumably it would be trivial to add though, ie have 'kget /boot/kernel.conf'
somewhere in /etc/rc.*

ie in /etc/rc.local have ->
echo -n 'saving boot -c changes..'
/sbin/kget /boot/kernel.conf     
echo 'done'
