I tried running a -current (r219926) release in VirtualBox and got a panic.

handler (20110316/evevent-137)

Backtrace:

If I boot after setting hint.acpi.0.disabled="1" it then panics with "No usable
event timer" (there are errors about being unable to allocate an IRQ prior to
the panic)
