Hi, Thanks for testing! =) Can you give it a shot with EFI boot after r330281 (just committed), please? I think our working theory is that we were printing newlines along with our box-drawing characters, and that could be problematic. The new version handles all of that a little better and respects loader_menu_frame to boot.
