  There may be at least some developers who get the list(s) in digest format.

Thus, rather than the ordering that is done now, they may be able to comprehend
posts they can contribute toward a resolvation of, if the digest was via some 
software preprocessed:

Seems like it would save digest readers half the time they use to review
the topics, and enable them to read the topics they do read sequentially,
thus not getting distracted mid-read and becoming not interested in 
input.

And/or it requires a huge rewrite of someone else's mailman software??? As in,
an upgrade to it would revert changes we made...
