The general idea is that freebsd version N is buildable on N-1.
Of course you might find somebody with the knowledge to help. But the practical 
solution is to just use freebsd 14. (That is still N-2, but freebsd 16 and 15 
are still very similar. So it will work for now.)

For the more experimental setup you are trying out I can’t help, so Happy 
Hacking!

okay, i hoped to tell i fixed it but i didn't

i found tools/build/Makefile containing methods to implement missing 
secure_getenv() on mac, but i can't really adapt it to < 14

which of course fails

yeah it's kind of pointless to maybe help 13 to build 16 but i can't even make 
local patch here somehow

there's something missing here and i can't somehow connect that thing up to the 
build

so maybe someone has idea. doesn't need inclusion in tree if it's not great 
solution. just how to define that
