It's an error in that I couldn't get past it unless DESTDIR was set to /.
I can recreate the error on another vm, but it seems that in getting
past the two errors, I have partly answered my own question in that the
error does not present itself any longer.
Give me a few hrs and I'll be able to regenerate the entire error
message from a new vm. In the meantime is there any other information
you'd like me to get?
