I've set hw.nvidia.registry.EnableGpuFirmware=1 in /etc/sysctl.conf.local, the
first one not.
Please try setting this `hw.nvidia.registry.EnableGpuFirmware=1`
exactly in /boot/loader.conf and reboot. This needs to be set on boot
and before module is loaded not after :-)

`hw.nvidiadrm.modeset=1` seems to be leftover from an old releases my
bad sorry :-P
When did that change? I have hw.nvidiadrm.modeset=1 in my
/boot/loader.conf from when
I set this up earlier in this year.

*Even today in 16-current the pkg-message file for nvidia-drm-kmod-580.105.08 says :*

Modesetting must be enabled to use nvidia-drm.ko for graphics. This can be done
by setting the modeset sysctl, the equivalent of the modeset kernel parameter
on Linux.

hw.nvidiadrm.modeset=1

This must be set before loading nvidia-drm.ko, most easily done by placing the
above in /boot/loader.conf.
