Just a little correction.  The problem is my commit changed the
definition of BIG_ENDIAN from 4321 to _BIG_ENDIAN (which is defined as
4321).  Similarly for LITTLE_ENDIAN.  The BYTE_ORDER macro isn't
touched in defs.h.
