If you by any chance are using Plasma with KDE Connect, be aware that
Avahi conflicts with KDE Connect, so you'll have to disable the
latter.
Another reason why Avahi may not announce anything on the network is
that it gets started before the network interface gets configured. Try
running "service avahi-daemon restart" to rule this out.
