The VM's hard disk was on zfs and I had "copies=2" set. I disabled
this, created a fresh VM, and now it lets me into the installer.
Virtualbox apparently does not like ZFS's copies feature.
I'm going to have to take this back. I was distracted, came back and tried
to continue farther in the installer. It crashed again and is repeating
that same behavior. I'm not sure were to go from here.
