Without the kernel module you can label devices but every other
operation needs support from the kernel

As mentioned I did the install a few times like this:
* Install OS
* gmirror
* Update
And after udpate had issues.
That is when I tried
* Install OS
* Update
* gmirror
And noticed that gmirror would report adding the device, but nothing
would show in status.
