With Power8 aging and Power9 shipping... Consider picking up a couple of these to support the development of getting FreeBSD going on the bare iron without hypervisor. FreeBSD being a member already, good support for this effort should be available from the OpenPOWER Foundation / IBM. They seem to want to make Power9 and beyond happen in a big way. Linux also has support for Power9.
A barebones selfbuilt machine for the dev cluster would cost about $3200-$3500, and/or donation could be solicited from OpenPOWER Foundation. https://raptorcs.com/TALOSII/ https://raptorcs.com/content/base/faq.html https://github.com/open-power https://github.com/openbmc https://wikipedia.org/wiki/POWER9 https://www.nextplatform.com/?s=power9 https://openpowerfoundation.org/ Just an FYI for those unfamiliar, including potential users. This thread could be updated to list other Power9 hardware sources as they become known by the FreeBSD community. _______________________________________________ [email protected] mailing list https://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-hardware To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[email protected]"
