I rather think "not right away" means at least for one point release,
and possibly to the next major release.
Nah, 5.x is dead and has begun to decompose, but there was a bit of a
mix-up in getting the pre-announcements widely publicized so we decided
to hold off on the burial process in case some people only saw the final
termination notice and not the pre-announcements.
Let's give it a month and then we can begin to actively remove 5.x
support. Waiting shouldn't cause major difficulties.
