I got motivated and set up an old system with 8.0 and current ports. The
patched 1.9.100 mga driver works, at least with one monitor.
Are you trying to use dual monitors with the G550, or is one monitor
enough?

Thanks. I used the DVI head of G550 which can't get more than 800x600 res.
My system is on 8 stable with xf86-video-mga-1.4.10,2. I just want the res
can be 1024x768,that is what I want. Does the patched 1.9.100 mga driver met
my quest?
It might, but my G450 cards don't have DVI to test. I have the patches,
the port, and instructions here:
