I spoke to soon here. Davmail does indeed work, but with swt-devel
compiled against the new libxul I got a weird "echo" of the icon on my
XFCE panel. Going back to regular swt fixed this issue.

Regular swt builds against the new libxul, but it was also necessary to
disable the browswer option. So that seems to point to an
incompatibility between this code in swt generally, and the new xul.
