...?? except for about 20 minutes (my connection to the machine doing
the work is not that fast)
That is very weird output. It looks like gmake is being called with -d
which certainly shouldn't be the case.
I suspect print/texinfo is one (it's kind of hard to tell exactly when
they go off to do dependencies..)
Does anyone know the secret to shutting up all this debug stuff?
It literally pumps out so much crap that the rest of he family gets
bumped off the internet connection..
If you must run interactive, run tmux or screen and switch virtual
terminals. I find the latter to be really helpful when I've got a high
bandwidth-delay product connection (e.g. Washington, USA to the UK).
I can get back to the prompt much faster after a build success/failure
then if I have to wait for everything to clear the pipe.
Unfortunately, running tmux, the data comes out of tmux so fast that I
can not get a "switch windows" signal down to tmux.
in actuality the process has probably finushed, but I have quite a few
minutes of solid data queued up between the Server and me in AUS.
for example, if I hit ^Z it eventually stops.. after that make has
completed.. same thing with attempts to switch windows on tmux or screen.
