Bug ID: 300218
Summary: devel/py-setuptools-scm: Drop
py-setuptools_scm_git_archive from TEST_DEPENDS
(obsolete plugin)
Product: Ports & Packages
Version: Latest
Hardware: Any
OS: Any
Status: New
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: ---
Component: Individual Port(s)

devel/py-setuptools-scm lists devel/py-setuptools_scm_git_archive in
TEST_DEPENDS. That plugin is obsolete: setuptools-scm has handled git
archives itself since 7.0. It is also broken with the tree's
setuptools-scm 9.2.2: setuptools_scm_git_archive/__init__.py:6 imports
setuptools_scm.utils, which no longer exists, so the plugin fails on
import. Upstream archived the plugin's repository on 2024-05-05.
The patch removes the plugin from TEST_DEPENDS. Nothing in
setuptools-scm uses it, and no installed file changes, so PORTREVISION
is not bumped.
Misc changes:
- portlint warnings are fixed
Why not update: 10.x needs a pre-release of vcs-versioning that the tree
does not have, and the port has about 700 dependents; this change only
touches TEST_DEPENDS.
Impact: 700 ports depend on py-setuptools-scm; the change only affects
`make test`.
Tested: poudriere bulk -C -t on amd64, both with Python 3.12 and with
DEFAULT_VERSIONS+=python=3.13: builds, and all 34 modules import from
the built package.
This is part of removing the in-tree references to
py-setuptools_scm_git_archive so that its proposed deprecation can go
ahead.
