As far as I can tell, SSE applies only to pentium III cpus and later; is this correct? dmesg reports for me
CPU: Pentium II/Pentium II Xeon/Celeron (399.10-MHz 686-class CPU) Origin = "GenuineIntel" Id = 0x665 Stepping = 5 Features=0x183f9ff<FPU,VME,DE,PSE,TSC,MSR,PAE,MCE,CX8,SEP,MTRR,PGE,MCA,CMOV,PA T,PSE36,MMX,FXSR> Would enabling SSE in my kernel have any ill (positive) effects?
