I am having the exact problem as this guy, and I tried
your suggestion

mount_msdos /dev/fd0 /mnt   

as root and I still get 

/dev/fd0: Device not configured

As I discussed in an earlier email that the fd0
device is not showing up on dmesg. Can it be that I
burnt out the floppy drive and now at boot up the
floppy is not being detected?
