Thanks Kent, I'm not sure what the problem was but I upgraded my kernel to FreeBSD 4.7 and now everything seems to be working correctly.

If you have KDE-3.0.4, qt-3.0.5, kdevelop-2.1.3, and XFree86-4.2.x installed, they will all work together. It sounds like you have a lot of no longer supported stuff installed.
