I recommend replacing the default boot manager with the one that comes on
the FreeBSD CDROM in the \TOOLS directory called OSBSBETA.EXE (note that
there are two files starting with OSBS, make sure you use the OSBSBETA.EXE).

This boot manager lets you rename, add, or delete the partitions you will
see/boot. And it's very stable. I've been using it since FreeBSD 2.2.7.
