You probably installed it without using the ports collection (or interrupted the port install before it could register the package, etc). Unfortunately this means it is going to be hard for you to completely remove it. Look into the example in the pkg_which manpage to see how to identify files that do not belong to any registered ports, but make sure to back up your system before you start to remove them (note: don't just remove them all blindly because some of those files may be legitimate).
