Hi Greg, I started w/ FreeBSD 3.4. Along with the 4+ CD set, i also bought your book (1st or 2d ed.). That book helped me in my first few years, mainly w/ slicing, booting, custom kernel compiling, and possibly installing software from ports. Later, when using 4.x at some point, i referred to it when i was trying to load kernel or set the root partition to boot from (don't remember exactly). I would recommend your book to someone who would be starting afresh w/ FreeBSD. (Then again, i have not read other recent books on FreeBSD.) Thanks for your contribution. - Parv -- _______________________________________________ [email protected] mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
