I used smartctl (part of /usr/ports/sysutils/smartmontools) to run a diagnostic on the disk, and while it does acknowledge an error, it seems to think the drive is okay. However, given that all of my files are still missing, I'm still a bit skeptical.
Error 1 occurred at disk power-on lifetime: 2920 hours (121 days + 16 hours) When the command that caused the error occurred, the device was active or idle.
