Practically apache is seving the index.html page.

Check your httpd.conf file. Apache needs to a] load the status module,
b] "add" the status module, and c] be configured to show the "status" page:
# Allow server status reports, with the URL of

Allow from all
Note that you probably don't want "allow from all".
