on my /var/log/messages, I can't see any mpd logs on it but mpd is running:

ps -fax|grep mpd

42496 ?? Is 0:00.00 /usr/local/sbin/mpd -b

you can use "mpd -a -b" and "telnet 5005"
to see what's going on or you can use "mpd -s syslog_ident" to
enable logging.

Did I missed something?

mpd does not use syslog by default.
