Hi Albert -- Thank you for your tip. It will definetly help, I think, because I did manage to install Maple 8 on Ubuntu.
I had already contacted my local Maple reseller in Brazil and thanfully I read your tip:
NB: Don't buy Maple-10, it's not working on 5.2/5.4/6.1
