yes, more reseach shows that:

-r-xr-xr-x  1 root  wheel  184776 Dec 24 12:05 mount_msdos*
-r-xr-xr-x  1 root  wheel  394716 Jan 20 19:26 mount_msdosfs*

seems that mount_msdosfs has replaced mount_msdos
