Edit /etc/ttys and modify line 45 as follows:

Save the file, reboot. Of course, you need to have KDE installed.
Shouldn't have to reboot. 'kill -HUP 1' should do it. If not,
'shutdown now', hit return, followed by ^D will do it ...
This is even easier to remember:
# init q
It's the same for 'kill -HUP 1'
