If you did an x11 user from the install disk you wont be able to run x11 right off the bat. I would recommend searching the archive for a solution thus this has been asked many times. Here I will make it easier for you. Search for this thread:

I happen to have LG Flatron T710BH monitor but have no idea about its
resolution and so on. What can I do to configure X11?

I do want to base it on FreeBSD (6.3) without erasing data and
installing PCBSD or NetBSD.
