Just to clarify, X-STABLE does not indicate end-user stability. It indicates the ABI is (generally) stable (ABI-compatibility is maintained within a branch). There are exceptions, but this generally holds true. That said, -RELEASE is a better idea for a production system, unless you have some dire need for a feature/enhancement in -STABLE.
