hi all...

i need to do a script to copy a file from a remote machine via scp with a key and without a password....

here is what i'm doing:

1. ssh-keygen -t rsa
2. scp new_key.pub to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (with password)
3. on remote_host rename new_key.pub to ~user/.ssh/athorized_keys

Should be authorized_keys.

it is. i just misspelled it in the message...

I usually cheat and grab a copy of ssh-copy-id from the web; I suspect your issue has to do with permissions for the .ssh directory and the authorized_keys file.
permissions are 600 for the file and 700 for .ssh

the users are different on the local machine and remote_host. my guess is that if i point to the right key with -i it should work correct...

now doing -vvv as Greg Larkin suggests...
