I read an article online about some Linux constructs make it very difficult to 
port some software to BSD.

This included systemd, also Xfce and GNOME 3.

I figure this is why GNOME 3, out for some time now, has not yet been ported to 
FreeBSD ports or NetBSD pkgsrc.
