Subject: Serial Console Port Settings ?

In order to trouble shoot booting a newer pc, I have tried to configure a serial console...Unfortunately, I dont know what port settings ( baud rate, # bits, parity etc ) to use on the receiving machine...Ive tried lots of combinations
at get gibberish at low settings....lots of "@" signs at 9600 and nothing at speeds above 9600. Is there an "auto-baud"
routine ?

FreeBSD Handbook is your friend http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/serialconsole-setup.html

9600 baud, 8 bits, no parity, 1 stop bit.
