I've looked through the handbook and tried (unsuccessfully) to reboot into single-user mode or otherwise get to a place where I can either comment out the line in fstab or skip the check -- no luck.
Any ideas much appreciated.
This is when you boot single-user mode off of the install CD, or the FIXIT CD (#2) if you have that around. Then mount your hard drive's root partition on /mnt (or make something in /tmp), and fix the problem.
