I have a couple of completely headless systems (some of them so far away it takes about 12 hours by direct flight). But I always make sure there are at the very least 2 systems at each location and they are together close enough to run serial cables between them. Then I redirect the console to the first serial port and can access it from the other machine through the serial cable. Works very well, I've even done complete reinstalls this way.
