Are you trying to install a software package with a name like foobar.tgz? You have to use the pkg_add tool. If you just want to unzip it, then tar xzvf $archive will do, or tar xjvf $archive if it's compressed with bzip2 (*.tar.bz2) instead of gzip (*.tar.gz) Does this help? -- Matthew Graybosch http://www.starbreaker.net "I am become root, shatterer of kernels." _______________________________________________ [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
