Hi all,

May I recommend ethernet anyhow?

Depending on the make and model of the modem, ethernet modems can be just that or perform all sorts of tasks. You might be able to opt for a simple bridging modem or perhaps for a full fledged NAT-router/firewall with built-in switch. Who knows, I have no idea what's possible in this particular situation.

Ethernet itself does not require any drivers or third party software to be installed other than what's already there in (almost) each and every OS available.

You can hook up *any* ethernet capable device to this modem. This makes ethernet modems infinitely more flexible as it almost always just "works".

Besides, running services like NFS on a NAT firewall is a Bad Idea. Separate the router/firewall from the internal services as much as possible and you'll be a happier camper.

There's my $0.02... Nico
