You would probably find it easier to determine what is eating up your disk space and move that to /hd2. For example, my /usr/ports/distfiles runs around 1.5 GB. Just moving distfiles to hd2 and linking it to /usr/ports/distfiles would free up a lot of space. On one machine that I don't use a lot of HD space, I mounted a 10 GB slice as /usr/ports.
